Detective Benjamin Novotny (June 15, 1965 - March 2, 2010)  

Our fellow officer, friend and dedicated colleague, Detective Ben Novotny, of Chatham died suddenly this past Tuesday. He was one of the senior members of the department, having served the Town of Eastham for over 23 years. The entire department, community, family and friends are saddened by his loss. Ben was a proud husband, father and committed policeman. He served us all most recently as a Detective and Court Prosecutor. He was a member and Treasurer of the Eastham Police Union. Well-loved by all those who knew him, he shall be sorely missed. Our heart-felt condolences extend to his wife, Beth, his children, Zack, Hannah, Austin and Sammi, his mother, Jean, and rest of his family and friends. We ask our community to join together in solemn prayer and joyful remembrance of a full life ended too quickly. May he rest in peace.
